To submit your work for the Nat Geo Educator Certification Program, please complete this Multimedia Reflection Form. This is your chance to tell us about both of the activities you completed in Phase 2, how they connected to the Learning Framework, and how your students were impacted.

However, you should choose either Activity 1 or Activity 2 as your “capstone activity.” For your capstone activity, you will be asked to submit the following additional items as part of your multimedia reflection form and on the Google+ community to inspire other educators. See “Uploading to the Google+ Community” to learn how to post your materials there.

  • A lesson plan, in accordance with this template, written in your own words with sources cited
  • 2-6 photographs of student work
  • A video that tells the story of your students’ learning in a visual and creative way. See “Capstone Video Requirements for more details.
Please develop 4 goals to pursue.
  • 2 goals should focus on classroom or professional life

  • 2 goals should focus on local community impact
Please submit all of the following with this form.

1. Classroom Activities
If your expedition is between May - August 2017: Due January 31st, 2018
If your expedition is between September 2017 - January 2018: Due May 31st, 2018

Develop and implement 2 activities, lessons, or projects based on content learned or experience gained from the expedition. Lessons should be formatted according to this template and tied to the National Geographic Learning Framework.

2. Nat Geo Educator Certification

If your expedition is between May - August 2017: Complete by January 31st, 2018
If your expedition is between September 2017 - January 2018: Complete by May 31st, 2018

Complete the National Geographic Educator Certification Program by completing the above classroom activities and creating a capstone video about and submitting photos of student work from one of your two classroom activities.

3. Strategy Share
If your expedition is between May - August 2017: Complete by January 31st, 2018
If your expedition is between September 2017 - January 2018: Complete by May 31st, 2018

Write a blog post about a teaching strategy gained through the expedition. Ideally, this strategy should be implementable by an educator who did not go on an expedition. (i.e. “How to Teach About Sustainability Using Photography.”) To begin, please submit a proposal using this form no later than 2 weeks prior to your deadline. Please do not begin writing your blog post until your proposal has been approved.
Your capstone project should tell the story of your students’ learning in a visual and creative way. We want to know how your chosen lesson reflects the attitudes, skills, and knowledge of the National Geographic Learning framework—and how it fits in with your personal identity, values, or philosophy as a teacher!
